Good News, Not Quite So Good News, and Blogging

The good news - my husband passed his dissertation defense! We are thrilled. I am so thankful that this is finally done, and before the baby arrives.

The not quite so good news - I'm not quite on bedrest, but approaching it. I'm having too many contractions if I do too much. Fortunately, I have been able to keep it under control by resting, and haven't needed any nasty drugs or a hospital stay. Hopefully it will stay that way!

This is forcing me to take prioritizing to a whole new level and to outsource some things I can't do anymore. I've hired out the cleaning and I'm ordering more things - including groceries - online. It's quite a change, but I think the experience may be useful as I consider what is best in the future.

Now to blogging - if I honestly consider my priorities, where does blogging fall? It has to fall very low on the list. It is fun, I do enjoy being part of the community. But I've got tons of things I've been meaning to write about for six months and haven't gotten to. I've got even more real life tasks I want or need to do. Finishing the PhD project has just given us more energy for our other endeavors - things that will truly build a better future for our family. It doesn't seem right to write about spending time and money well, and yet have that writing actually be an example of the opposite.

So I think I must do what I know is best and spend my time on other, more important things. I'm going to leave the blog up for the time being, and will certainly let you all know when the baby arrives safely. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your prayers and well wishes through this pregnancy. I'm still reading blogs, so it's not like I'm disappearing entirely. Who knows, maybe I will change my mind and come back to it in the future. With the exception of posting about his birth, I definitely plan to take now through the first few months of the baby's arrival off.

Anyway, best wishes to all. I will see you around. :)

Best wishes while you rest up. Enjoy the break- life will be frantic/crazy/insane as soon as baby arrives. Please post pics as soon as the little one makes his arrival. Have you decided on a name yet?

Blogging and pregnancy never mixed well for me! Take care, get lots of rest. Looking forward to "meeting" the new addition.

Thanks for understanding!

My plan is not to post much in the way of pictures (we are too private for that, sorry - too many years as a librarian), but I'll gladly send out an email of cute pictures to any regular readers who send me their email. Email me at joyoffrugalliving@gmail.com.

Oh, just saw the comment about the email.

I see what you mean about pictures after reading so many stories of them being used in harmful ways. I've considered removing all photos from my blog, but a few of our family members who live cross country only see Samuel through my blog. I guess I could send emails instead- but I have to be honest- sometimes I just can't help showing him off : )

Reading recent stories has made me more cautious though. Maybe I could password protect my blog? Or set up another one that could be just for photos and password protect it. That might be easier. Hmmmm. Something to think about.

So sorry for babbling! Samuel is in bed for the night and I've had little adult conversation today so...

I know you might be too busy to answer but I'm wondering how the last few weeks of pregnancy is going for you? I know I was SO ready for the end as I got closer to my due date.

Hope all is well!

Christy - I would definitely consider a password protected blog for family, or maybe one of those photo sharing sites where you must invite people to view the photos for them to access them. My family was interested in me doing a blog for the baby, as they had enjoyed one my cousin does for hers, but I just can't do it! I will likely post stuff at one of the photo sharing sites, so our friends in other states and countries get to see the baby some - but I haven't figured out a plan for this yet. Samuel is quite a cutie, and I can totally understand wanting to show him off. :)

I'm now almost at 37 weeks and things are going well. I'm just hoping the little guy decides to come out on his own soon so I can avoid the scheduled induction. I'm feeling tired, but very excited to meet him on the outside!

Thanks for the continued prayers. :)
